Powell-Duffryn was a former member of the FTSE-100 operating in the engineering and fuel distribution sectors and with an annual turnover of £410 Million.
PD Fuels Ltd. was responsible for the company's fuel distribution business, buying bulk cargoes of oil or coal and then selling it through the wholesale and retail markets. Working for the retail division of 50+ business units, my responsibilities included:-
- Managing three staff.
- Managing the division's financial affairs - budgeting/forecasting, balance sheet management, investment appraisals, liason with external auditors, etc.
- Providing support to operational management - audits, debt collection, reconciliations, etc.
- Ensuring adequate financial controls in situ.

All business units operated a manual system with documents posted to the Portsmouth office for input into the finance and accounting system.
